Approach to Therapy

If you're looking for a therapist who feels like a real person—not someone who just nods from across the room—we'll probably get along well. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I value authenticity, collaboration, and creating a space where you can laugh, cry, question yourself, and be challenged, all while feeling genuinely supported and understood.

I believe that the experiences we've lived through—and the relationships we've had along the way—shape who we are in powerful ways. My approach is grounded in trauma-informed care and built on the idea that healing happens through connection. Together, we'll use our therapeutic relationship as a foundation to explore what's keeping you stuck, uncover the strengths you already possess, and help you move toward a life that feels more authentic, connected, and aligned with who you want to be. I may also add in a poorly timed joke.

Professional Background

My social work journey began at the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2013, and it's been one meaningful adventure ever since. Thanks to a few military moves with my family, I had the privilege of working with Veterans across different communities, where I discovered a deep passion for helping those who had experienced combat and military sexual trauma. Those experiences shaped not only the therapist I am today but also reinforced my belief in people's incredible capacity to heal. I've always loved learning, embracing new challenges, and saying "yes" to the occasional leap of faith—which eventually brought my family and me to beautiful Colorado. These days, you'll find me wearing two hats: teaching future social workers at the University of Denver's Graduate School of Social Work and working with individuals and couples in private practice.

Personal Hobbies

Outside of work, you can usually find me enjoying the little things—spending time with my family, exploring a new coffee shop, or listening to an audiobook during any spare moment I can find. I’m an iced coffee loyalist (regardless of the temperature), a dedicated seeker of cozy nights and good TV recommendations, and every once in a while, I even convince myself that going for a run is a great idea. I’m also always ready to talk Taylor Swift and will gladly defend my favorite album in a very serious (but friendly) debate.

Approach to Therapy

I place a strong emphasis on getting to know you as my client, understanding both where you’ve been and where you are now. As Licensed Social Worker, I offer a calm, supportive space to explore where you can go from here, and how we can work together to get you there.

Most often, I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness practices to inform my approach. With my social work background, I strive to embrace a multicultural lens that acknowledges and appreciates the variety of identities my clients hold.

You don’t need to know who you are to find acceptance in my practice. I will always do my best to meet you where you are, to see you as you are, and to serve you as we discover your path forward.

Professional Background

My initial run at higher education culminated in a MA degree in Philosophy from Baylor University in Texas. I had dabbled in computer science along the way, so my transition into the technology sector was less surprising than it might seem. I remained in tech for over twenty-five years and worked on a range of products across some of the biggest companies in the industry.

Finishing up that career, I turned my attention and energies to help others full-time. I completed my MSW degree from the University of Denver and have been focused on clinical work since. I’m currently pursuing my LCSW and am working to make Sunwell an unfettered success for our clients.

Personal Hobbies

My heart lives in the West and I enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities. While relatively new to me, Colorado is providing countless spots for hiking, biking, and exploring. Whether off-roading or road-tripping, I’m happiest behind the wheel, seeing new spaces and towns.

Music fills my soul and I’m passionate about a pretty wide range of genres. Most often, I have KEXP (a Seattle-based radio station) playing in the background or I’m scouring YouTube for live concert footage of my favorite bands.

And I’m a long-time animal rights advocate and have followed a plant-based diet for much of my adult life. If you have related books to recommend, I’m always eager to add to my queue.
